This is the second year of the initiative from RBC, in partnership with the CBC, the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC), and the Canadian Olympic Foundation (COF), in the search for Canada’s next great Olympian.
Through RBC Training Ground, athletes will execute a series of workouts in front of various National/Provincial Sport Organizations, and their results will be measured against performance benchmarks to help identify those athletes who show the greatest potential.
RBC Training Ground tests consist of: vertical jump (power); 30m running sprint (speed); isometric mid-thigh pull (strength); and 20m multi-stage shuttle run (endurance).
RBC Training Ground will be running smaller qualifying events throughout the province, leading into the larger regional events. Athletes must attend a qualifying event to receive an invitation to the larger regional event. Only athletes who meet the performance benchmarks being tested against will receive an invitation to the regional event.
Athletes between the ages of 14 and 25 are invited to put their skills to the test at the free local qualifiers by registering at: www.rbctrainingground.ca
