Cold Lake Alberta 55 plus Games Organizational Open House

The City of Cold Lake will be hosting an Open House on April 11 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the Lakeland Inn in so that the organizing committee can start taking shape.

If you can’t make the Open House and want to be involved, please don’t worry. You can always reply to this email with the position on the organizing committee that you are interested in and we will make sure that you are considered for the position.

The Organizing Committee will be making most of the decisions about the games – the dates, venues, entertainment, opening ceremonies, etc.  The City of Cold Lake and the Alberta 55 plus Seniors Sport and Recreation Association will liaise with the committee to support its members as required. The City has also endeavoured to provide space for a Cold Lake 55 plus Games Headquarters that the committee can use as work space and a meeting place.

A draft organization structure for the committee is shown so that interested volunteers can see the positions that are required. The final structure of the committee will be up to the Chairperson and the rest of the committee members, however.

The Open House will also be an opportunity for people to learn more about the organizing committee, the volunteer opportunities and the games themselves. Attached is an image of the organizational flow chart for the organizing committee, which will be available at the Open House so that names and contacts can be put to positions and the committee’s first meeting can be planned.

The positions on the positions on the organizing committee are as follows: Chairperson, Transportation Director, Entertainment Director, Venues Director, Volunteer Director, Finance Director, Food Director, Publicity and Marketing Director; Games and Activities Director.

Coordinators will also be needed for each of the sports and activities. These will report to the Games and Activities Director and are as follows: alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, badminton, pickleball, bowling (five pin), bridge – duplicate, carpet bowling, darts, euchre, ice hockey, ice curling, pool (snooker), scrabble, floor shuffleboard, as well as arts and crafts, creative writing, and photography.
